If you want to make a difference in the world and love the accounting industry, start your career in not-for-profit accounting.

For 25 years, Accounting For Good has been supporting our NFP clients with financial management expertise so they can focus on delivering their organisation’s mission.

Accounting For Good’s founders established the company after feeling a gap in their finance departments, and so built our service to help build capacity across the sector.

We work only with not-for-profit organisations, supporting them to operate, report and plan effectively.

We see ourselves as partners with our clients as they strive to achieve their missions, and we take pride in providing high quality financial information to assist decision making.

We get the nuance of being a non-profit, and we especially understand what boards need to know and what managers need to understand in order to make sound decisions.

We are proud of our positive culture and are kind and respectful in every interaction with clients and colleagues alike. Collaboration and delegation are key to our success – we plan ahead and schedule our work to ensure that we achieve client deadlines and that our hard-working team is well utilised but not burnt out.

Accounting For Good is a Xero Advisor Certified Practice and our team includes qualified Chartered Accountants, Certified Practising Accountants and Xero Certified accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring that accounting and reporting are of the highest standard.

Set the trend, don’t follow it

Not-for-profit accounting is more than crunching numbers solely focused on spreadsheets, taxes and audits. It has moved from a process-driven role into a role that profoundly influences decision making and strategic business planning. The tedious times of manually reconciling bank accounts, mailing invoices and consolidating tons of tiny paper receipts are long gone.

As accountants in the not-for-profit sector, we fulfil a far more intelligent advisory role, usually at board level. A higher level accounting role is often a significant piece of the puzzle missing from NFP organisations that are often under-resourced and under pressure, yet required to manage things like cash flow.

And you could be that someone to fill it.

Our business is affecting change

The ATO (Australian Tax Office) defines not-for-profit organisations as “organisations that provide services to the community and do not operate to make a profit for its members (or shareholders, if applicable). Childcare centres, art centres, neighbourhood associations, medical centres and sports clubs are all examples of NFP organisations.”

What we do effects change in communities. Significantly.

We approach not-for-profit accounting by conducting deeper financial analyses and developing accurate forecasts. This is especially valuable in a not-for-profit environment as it allows an organisation to know where it sits financially and where the organisation needs to focus.

We want passionate individuals who want to effect change too

At Accounting For Good, we have built a business that puts the client first. We have clients in areas like early learning, community services, Aboriginal corporations, drug and alcohol services, community legal and justice, disability services, environment and climate justice, professional and peak bodies, health promotion charities and community based training organisations.

We ensure that clients have good financial systems and processes and accurate information to inform their decision making. We provide an outsourced finance function along with project consulting services.

We are privileged to work with client organisations that do good in the world and want individuals who share this passion to work with us.

We are deadline-driven and work hard to meet these deadlines and client expectations. We are a supportive team of individuals who value our work-life balance.

We support you from the start

We have a thorough onboarding process so you never feel like you’re in the dark. We provide training on our day-to-day systems, processes and our cloud-based accounting software, Xero.
